Cycle-by-cycle [NO] exhaust port measurements from a Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine
We’re very pleased to share the following preliminary data recorded from a MAHLE Powertrain designed single cylinder H₂ engine currently being tested at Brunel University London as part of the Innovate UK funded H2 Internal Combustion Engine for Light Commercial Vehicles project.
The engine is capable of emitting almost zero NOx under ideal conditions, but was operated here at a steady state condition with relatively large fuel flow to provide appreciable amounts of nitric oxide per stroke.
Further work to follow showing NO₂, plus any oil consumption and burn to be measured via fast HC and fast CO₂ exhaust measurements.
