Nanoparticles from a wood stove
Impact of a wood stove on indoor air quality
Wood stoves are often considered sources of significant indoor air pollution, but the data supporting this claim is limited and there are no clear reporting standards.
To help address this problem, we used the Fast Aerosol Analyser (DMS500 Mk2) to monitor the exposure to sub-micron particles when operating a wood stove. We found out that users are not directly affected by the hot fumes when reloading the stove, but that the particles released cause a lasting change in the shape of the ambient particle size distribution.
