(Senior) Powertrain Workshop Technician

Cambustion is a world leader in automotive emissions measurement and control. CamMotive is our Electric Vehicle (EV) group, providing support to the EV development industry.

We have over 70 employees based in Cambridge, UK. Our Powertrain Engineering Services groups work on a consultancy basis for vehicle and component manufacturers.

·         We have comprehensive state-of-the-art powertrain and vehicle testing facilities.

·         We evaluate and develop powertrain control solutions for future vehicles.

Due to recent and planned future expansion, Our Powertrain Engineering Services Groups are now recruiting engineers and technicians to join the team.  The Powertrain Workshop Technician role will involve providing workshop-based support to our Engineering Services groups.

We would welcome applications from:

  • Experienced automotive workshop technicians with directly relevant experience.

  • Engineering technicians with transferable skills and with an interest and enthusiasm for the role.

The role is varied, based on the specific requirements of the test programme. Typical day-to-day activities could include:

  • Set-up and installation of test powertrains and vehicles.

  • Fabrication and instrumentation of test parts.

  • Maintenance of a range of powertrain and vehicle test facilities.

In addition, dependent on skills and experience, there is potential for this to be a senior role with additional responsibilities for:

  • Workshop management.

  • Wider responsibilities for management and maintenance of facilities.

Some or all of the following skills/experience would be an advantage – but additional training can be provided.

  • Automotive maintenance, ideally including high-voltage systems.

  • TIG welding.

  • Sheet metal fabrication.

  • Use of machine tools & hand tools.

  • Electrical / electronics testing/fabrication.
