Procurement Specialist (Technical)
Permanent, full time (35 hours / week). Cambridge, UK.
£34k+ depending on skills and experience +profit share (variable, but typically 10% of salary in recent years)
Overview:
Working with our production team, you’ll use our MRP and purchasing tools to source components and manufactured parts for our wide range of scientific instruments, from suppliers around the world.
This role will span the retirement of our existing MRP tool (SAGE Manufacturing) and its replacement with 123 Insight – offering the opportunity to be involved with the implementation of the new system from the start.
As part of a global SME, you’ll have the opportunity to rapidly gain skills and experience across a broad range of areas (including purchasing, supply chain, supplier relationships, and quality within the ISO9001:2015 framework), while maintaining appropriate focus on details and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Use our MRP system (in close co-operation with production engineers) to assess purchasing requirements, placing RFQs and subsequent POs with suppliers and monitoring deliveries and performance.
With support from engineers, provide the initial conduit for technical inquiries from suppliers.
Maintain and optimise our stock levels (currently ~£3 million).
Maintain and build relationships with our key suppliers.
You:

Have an appreciation for the commercial and technical aspects of business
Are confident being the face of the company with suppliers, and personable in order to develop those relationships
